How we measure — and what the numbers cannot tell you

LUFS is calculated using K-weighting and absolute/relative gating based on BS.1770 principles for mono and stereo. True peak is estimated using 4× oversampling and a 48-tap interpolation filter. This is a free beta, not a certified delivery meter. Validated against 16 applicable EBU Tech 3341 test cases: seven integrated stereo loudness tests and nine true-peak tests, all within their specified tolerances. Test material © EBU. This is not certification or full EBU Mode compliance; surround, momentary, short-term and LRA are outside this version. True peak remains an interpolated estimate. Check critical deliveries with an established meter.

The streaming cards are simplified comparisons: Spotify Normal −14 LUFS, YouTube −14 LUFS (attenuation only), and Apple Sound Check approximately −16 LUFS. These are comparison references, not delivery requirements. Album mode, device, and user settings may change the result. The Spotify web player does not apply normalization. When raising the level, the preview is capped at −1 dBTP; no limiter or codec is simulated. The Apple Music boost cap is a conservative preview assumption, not an exact Sound Check model. Sound quality cannot be judged without listening.
